Environmental conflicts – water scarcity and its role in violent conflict; cultural, ideological and religious connotations of the resource; regional focus Near and Middle East, esp. Israel and Palestinian Territories.
Constructivist conflict research – esp. discourse theory (Foucault) and Critical Discourse Analysis (Jäger).
Religion and conflict – from 2004 to 2006 organised and interdisciplinary lecture series on this topic with regional focus on Near East; edited an anthology on this topic, published in May 2006.
