Research interests

Environmental conflicts – water scarcity and its role in violent conflict; cultural, ideological and religious connotations of the resource; regional focus: Near and Middle East, esp. Israel and Palestinian Territories.

Constructivist conflict research – esp. discourse theory (Foucault) and Critical Discourse Analysis (Jäger).

Education

2005-2009 PhD student at Marburg University. Dissertation title: The Israeli-Palestinian water discourse – indicating conflict or cooperation? Scheduled to be published by VS-Verlag in early 2010.

2002-2003 Master of Peace and Security Studies at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy (IFSH) at Hamburg University. Title of Master thesis: Water in the Middle East – Key to Peace?
